Hanno rifiutato l'Oscar x il miglior attore. Scott xchè non si sentiva in competizione gli altri e quindi non lo riteneva giusto, invece Brando ha mandato un'indiana d'America di nome Sacheen Littlefeather a ritirare il premio, e ha fatto un discorso contro la discriminazione subita dagli indiani nel cinema. Si è poi scoperto che l'indiana era in realtà un'attrice sudamericana...
